Farming and wineries

Private AI for agriculture and wineries in Barcelona and the Penedès

A field agent that speaks Catalan, knows your farm and keeps the logbook for you.

We set up an AI agent for your farm, winery or cooperative: you log treatments and irrigation with voice notes in Catalan, it checks your weather station, helps identify pests from photos and keeps the field logbook. It runs on your own hardware with your data. We start with a free assessment on the farm itself.

The problem

  • Logging every treatment with product, dose and plot at the end of the day is the last thing anyone wants to do, and then it's missing from the logbook.
  • We have a weather station, but nobody looks at the history to decide when to treat for downy mildew.
  • We spot a bug on the leaves and it takes us days to find out what it is.
  • Farming apps expect you to type and are hardly ever in Catalan; in the vineyard people speak Catalan and wear gloves.
  • Farm data, expenses and winery customers end up scattered across notebooks, spreadsheets and WhatsApp.

Use cases

  1. 01

    Voice field logbook

A voice note in Catalan (‘he tractat les files tres i quatre amb sofre’, I've treated rows three and four with sulphur) becomes a record with date, plot, product, dose and author.

  2. 02

    Local weather and history

The agent reads your station and its history, calculates indicators such as vineyard infection risk and alerts you in the morning.

  3. 03

    Pests and diseases from photos

You send a photo of the leaf and the agent proposes hypotheses with their confidence level, asks for more photos if it is unsure and leaves the decision to the technical adviser.

  4. 04

    Shared expenses and work

Logging expenses and hours between partners or families, with a settlement of who owes what to whom.

  5. 05

    Winery and wine tourism

Draft replies to enquiries and bookings, wine fact sheets and communications in Catalan, Spanish and English, reviewed before they are sent.

  6. 06

    Regulations and grants at hand

Queries about plant protection product labels, regulations and grant rules, with a citation to the official source.

Farms and wineries, an hour from Barcelona

Less than an hour from Barcelona, the Penedès lives off vines and wine, and the rest of Catalonia off fruit, olives, market gardens and cereals. Farms are small or medium-sized, labour is scarce and the paperwork keeps growing: treatment records, the digital logbook, CAP (Common Agricultural Policy) payments, and traceability for the winery and for the designation of origin. The digital tools that reach the countryside usually expect you to type on a phone with gloves on, and they rarely speak Catalan.

Our own case: a farm in the Penedès

We did not dream this up in an office. Our founder’s family has a farm in the Penedès, with Merlot vines, a vegetable garden and fruit trees, and they run it with an AI agent on Discord.

Whoever comes back from spraying leaves a voice note in Catalan and the agent turns it into a field logbook entry, with product, dose, row and author. The agent checks the farm’s weather station, with more than 700,000 historical readings, and every night calculates indicators such as vineyard infection risk or stress in the vegetable garden. If someone sees an insect on the leaves, they send a photo: two vision models propose hypotheses with their confidence level, and the agent asks for more photos when it is unsure. It also keeps track of the expenses shared between the families who work the farm. The models run on our own hardware, split between a server on the farm and our Barcelona lab; Discord is only the messaging channel.

It is used every day by people who are not technical, in their own language. That is the test that matters to us.

How we deploy it

  1. Assessment on the farm. We look at how you work, what you record today and where, what sensors or weather station you have and who is going to use the agent.
  2. Pilot of 2 to 4 weeks. Voice field logbook and local weather, with the people who go out into the fields. We tune the vocabulary to your plots, your products and the way you speak.
  3. Production. Pest identification from photos, expenses, winery or wine tourism, depending on what you need, and maintenance. The season does not wait: if something fails in the middle of the grape harvest, we fix it fast.

Why local and in Catalan

Your farm data (treatments, yields, costs, customers) belongs to you, and there is no reason for it to end up on a platform’s server: it is processed and stored on your own hardware, and you can use a messaging app or a private website as the channel. And in the Catalan countryside, people speak Catalan: the agent understands voice notes just as they come out, with each household’s own vocabulary. In our lab we have specifically worked on the models’ Catalan vocabulary so that Catalan is no slower than Spanish.

When you don’t need it

If you already use a digital logbook that works for you and you don’t need voice input or your own weather data, you don’t need an agent: we will tell you what can be improved with what you already have.

Frequently asked questions

Does the agent understand the Catalan spoken in the fields?

Yes. It transcribes voice notes in Catalan and Spanish and replies in the language you speak to it in. We use it this way every day on a family farm in the Penedès.

Can it diagnose vine diseases?

It helps identify them, but it does not replace the technical adviser. It analyses the photo with two vision models, gives hypotheses with their confidence level and asks for more photos if it is not sure. The decision to treat, and with what, is yours or your adviser's.

Do we need internet on the farm?

You need minimal mobile coverage to send the notes and photos. Processing takes place on your own hardware, at the farm, the winery or the cooperative, not in a third-party cloud.

Can it connect to our weather station and our winery software?

Yes, if the station, the sensors or the winery management software export data or have an API. Our own agent already reads the weather station of a farm in the Penedès, with more than 700,000 historical readings. We check this before promising anything in the free assessment, which we carry out on the farm itself, in the Penedès or anywhere in the area around Barcelona.
