file.cat was born in Barcelona from a simple idea. The most useful AI for a company is the one that runs in its own office, with its own data and under its own control.

The story
Behind file.cat is Hug Prat, an IT consultant and full-stack developer from Barcelona with more than 20 years of experience in websites, e-commerce, video on demand and technical leadership, for organisations ranging from small start-ups to multinationals.
In 2026 he took a leap. He set up his own local AI lab in Barcelona, with two clustered NVIDIA DGX Spark units and an RTX GPU server, and began working with a fleet of AI agents that write code, run systems and prepare reports. Today that AI serves his family, his team and real projects:
- a family farm in the Penedès that is run with voice notes in Catalan and diagnoses pests from a photo;
- Nuzic, a Barcelona educational project that teaches music through mathematics, for which he is training a custom model with LoRA fine-tuning;
- a Barcelona digital agency for which a team of agents builds WordPress blocks with automatic visual review.
file.cat is how he brings all of that to other businesses.
How we think
- We use it ourselves first. We do not install anything we have not tested in our lab.
- Technical honesty. If your case does not need local AI, we will tell you.
- Your data is yours. And so is your hardware.
- Real Catalan. A .cat domain is no coincidence. We work in Catalan, Spanish and English.
Where we are
In Barcelona. We work on site in Barcelona and its metropolitan area, and remotely for the rest of Catalonia, Spain and the European Union.
